Please be advised that I will be away from home for a work commitment from September 30 to October 8. I will be available by email, but I will not be able to answer phone calls. Any orders for booklets during this time will be dealt with when I return. Bryan

I have now uploaded the latest changes to the Quiz Builder program. Some new changes: 1. I have increased the number of key verse levels from 2 to 3, to accommodate districts with three different levels of key verse sets (for C Division, B Division, and A Division quizzers). 2. I have enabled the quiz builder to make use of individualized key verse lists. If your district makes use of its own key verse lists, email me about setting up your district's list in your quiz builder profile. 3. I have reworked the output logging. The last five quiz building runs for each profile are logged so that I can review them in the case of any problems. Unfortunately, the introduction of the output logging caused a spike in the memory use of the quiz builder. As a result, longer quiz runs (making more than a few quizzes at a time) were frequently running up against the memory limits and failing to complete. The new output logging should not cause this problem anymore. As well, if the quiz builder does not complete, the new output logging gives me a better idea of where and why the program quit. 4. All quizzes generated on now saved onto the server, rather than directly downloading. This also allows me to review quizzes in the case of any problems. It also should help prevent a problem some users were having with their browsers not accepting the direct output PDFs properly.

Please note that I am currently experiencing a problem with the automatic activation of new subscriptions. New subscribers should expect that their accounts will not be usable for a short period of time after their payment is completed (usually less than a day) until I am able to manually activate the account. To ensure I don't miss your payment notification from paypal, I suggest that after paying, you send a short email advising me that your account has been paid and that you need me to activate the account - I'll be happy to do so as soon as possible and notify you that the account is ready for use. For those coaches who were subscribed last year, but whose accounts are not working now, please note that the subscriptions to quizhelper are for the quizzing year. All subscriptions end July 15, regardless of when you sign up. If you were subscribed last year, but have not renewed for this year, please send me an email stating that you wish to renew, and I will email you a paypal invoice to be paid. You may pay this through paypal or by mailing me a check. I do not advise re-registering under a new account name, as you will lose any customizations you have created for your quiz builder profiles. My intention is to substantially rework the subscription system to facilitate renewals, payment by check through the mail, and invoicing / receipting (for coaches who are reimbursed by their churches). However, this work will probably not get done until later this fall, after the final work is done on materials (including much-delayed work on Spanish and French booklets for next year). |
